Sword Kvetch - Cover Another cover for 19 Nocturne Boulevard, and onto Swords’n'Sorcery! Julie described the main character Cael in Sword Kvetch as an Amazon so I immediately thought of Boris Vallejo / Julie Bell style artwork, but once I listened to the play, that idea just evaporated. It’s a nice, light-hearted fantasy piece and plate-armour bikinis don’t really work with it — thank goodness! It would have been very difficult to accomplish.

A similar problem occured with the “Evil Wizard” Mazurin. I could have run up an evil wizard pretty easily, but his character in the play was not the stereotype, and finding an photo that correlated with my mental image of him proved impossible, so I left him off. Instead we have Gigli the long-suffering hobgoblin!

This was a quite complex cover to build and I think the only element not made up of more than one source photographs was the Castle. But it was a great deal of fun.

Sword Kvetch is scheduled to be released on 10th July, 2009.

Share and share alike …

This cover makes use of some photographs that are under the Share Alike licence. Like Cry Wolf releasing the cover with the branding etc doesn’t really make any sense, so in the spirit of the licence, here is the unadorned artwork:
